The early retirement provisions in CIE which are the subject of the Deputy's question are provided for in two Statutory Instruments, Nos. 57 and 58 of 1987. The instruments in question were made on 3 March 1987 with retrospective effect to 17 January 1987 and were valid for one year. The question of extending the operation of these provisions is currently under consideration in my Department in consultation with the Department of Finance and CIE.
