Vol. 378 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Contributions Arrears.

53.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the progress made to date in collecting arrears of health contributions outstanding.

I presume the question refers to health contributions owed by farmers to health boards for the period before 6 April 1984 when responsibility for current collections was transferred to the Revenue Commissioners. I will circulate in the Official Report a tabular statement giving details of the progress made by health boards in collecting these arrears.

Farmers' Health Contributions Arrears

Outstanding 6/4/1984

£12.413 million

Collected 6/6/84-31/12/84

£2.264 million

Collected 1/1/85-31/12/85

£1.416 million

Collected 1/1/86-31/12/86

£1.156 million

Collected 1/1/87-30/9/87

£0.338 million

Outstanding 30/9/87

*This figure takes account of adjustments arising from reassessment of liabilities during the period 6/4/84-30/9/87.
