Vol. 378 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bellewstown (Meath) School.

136.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the bad condition of the existing prefabs at Bellewstown, Drogheda, national school, County Meath; if the extension work which has already been approved is intended to commence in 1988; and if she will make a statement on the situation as the board of management of the school are anxious to know the present position to enable them to make fund-raising plans.

Because of the pressure on the capital funds available to my Department for the national schools building programme, I am not in a position to allocate funds to enable the proposed extension to Bellewstown national school, Drogheda, County Meath, to be commenced in 1988. I am, however, prepared to consider grant-aiding any necessary improvements to the existing school buildings, including improvements to the prefabricated buildings about which a report and recommendations are awaited from my Department's professional advisers.
