Broadcasting of Dáil Proceedings: Motion.

I move:

That, in respect of the Joint Sitting of both Houses of the Oireachtas on 26th February, 1988—

(1) Dáil Éireann authorise the live radio and television broadcasting by Radio Telefís Éireann of the speech by the Ceann Comhairle welcoming His Excellency Francois Mitterrand, President of the French Republic, the President's address and the speech of thanks by the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad for the address (and the simultaneous translation of the address and speeches), subject to the following conditions:—

(a) that they be broadcast in their entirety and that they be not interrupted by commentary, analysis or commercial breaks; and

(b) that they may not be rebroadcast in whole or in part except as permitted in and subject to the conditions set out in the Resolution of the Dáil of 10th March, 1987, in so far as they relate to the broadcasting of proceedings of the Dáil; and

(2) Paragraphs (1) and (2) of Standing Order 17 shall be deemed to contain reference to the French language.
