Vol. 378 No. 6

Written Answers. - South Infirmary (Cork) Student Nurses.

262.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement in relation to the situation whereby prospective student nurses for the South Infirmary in Cork were advised in September, 1986 that they were accepted for student nurse training and are still waiting to be called.

There was no intake of student nurses in the South Infirmary in the autumn of 1987. As regards the spring intake for 1988, discussions are ongoing with the South Infirmary and other Cork hospitals on the issue and it is hoped that the position of the prospective student nurses referred to will be finalised shortly.
