Vol. 378 No. 9

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

89.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been drawn to the fact that salaries of certain employees in the public sector (details supplied) are to be increased artificially to increase their redundancy payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The State body in question have advised that no salaries have been artificially increased with a view to increasing redundancy payments.

The Government's voluntary redundancy-early retirement scheme has been operated by that body in strict compliance with instructions issued by the Department of Finance.
