Written Answers. - Fire Safety Regulations.

23.

asked the Minister for the Environment when regulations under section 37 of the Fire Services Act, 1981, relating to fire safety will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.

The Fire Safety in Places of Assembly (Ease of Escape) Regulations, 1985, (S.I. No. 249 of 1985), made under section 37 of the Fire Services Act, 1981, were laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 30 July 1985 in accordance with the provisions of section 3 (2) of that Act.

Work on further sets of regulations under section 37, with associated codes of practice, is going ahead. The proposed regulations dealing with fire safety management in places of assembly are being given priority and should be completed in a matter of months. These regulations will also be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas as soon as they have been made.
