Vol. 379 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers.

173.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement regarding the proposals for car allowances or concessions for disabled drivers; whether a mobility allowance will be provided for disabled drivers indicating the agency which will deal with this scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Officials of my Department, in consultation with representatives of all the relevant interests, are at present drawing up proposals for a scheme to replace the schemes for disabled drivers at present administered by the Department of the Environment and the Revenue Commissioners. I expect to be in a position to announce details of the new scheme in the near future.
