Vol. 379 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

51.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Clare cannot be given the full headage payment for 1986.

Under the terms of the disadvantaged areas schemes no applicant may receive grants of more than £30.66 per acre of the area of his farm.

As the person named had only 20 acres on his farm, he could not be paid more than the £613.20 which he received on foot of his 1986 cattle and equines headage scheme application.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a 1986 suckler grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

The person named will be paid his 1986 EC suckler cow premium shortly.

He was originally refused payment under that scheme but his case was appealed and found to be in order for payment on foot of the facts newly disclosed on appeal.

53.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will receive headage payment.

The person named has been requested to forward a P60 or a final income tax assessment for the income tax year ended 5 April 1987 or a letter from the Inspector of Taxes stating that he had no off-farm income for that year. When he does so, the question of his eligibility for grants under the 1987 cattle and equines headage and suckler cow premium schemes will be considered further.

He will, however, be paid his 1987 calf premium and special beef premium schemes grants shortly.

54.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will make immediate payment of a farm modernisation grant to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

A claim under the farm improvement programme for payment of a farm buildings grant of £1,219 has been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in making grant payment.
