Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - IRA Funerals Policing.

35.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of Garda man hours involved in policing the recent IRA funerals from Dublin Airport to the Border; the cost of same; and the cost of any other expenses involved.

It would be contrary to long established practice to disclose information about the extent of Garda resources deployed in any particular policing operation of this kind. I can, however, indicate that the additional cost to the State of the extra Garda attendance required for this operation was £11,136 — this was the cost of the overtime, subsistence allowance and travelling expenses paid to gardaí involved in the operation.
