Vol. 379 No. 8

Written Answers. - Racing Board Accounts.

35.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for giving an accounting direction to the auditor of the Racing Board which led to the auditors reporting that, as a result, the accounts of the board for 1986 do not give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the board; and if he intends to review his direction in respect of the 1987 accounts.

In 1984, following consultations between the Ministers for Agriculture and Finance, the Racing Board were requested to change the format of their accounts in order that they should reflect the board's true financial position when laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.

As the new format provides for more transparency in the accounts I have no proposals to review the matter.
