Vol. 379 No. 11

Written Answers. - Non-Forest Development Potential.

42.

asked the Minister for Energy if, following the experience of semi-mature timber sales during 1987, he will outline the rate of return and the non-forest development potential which should attract investors for the proposed 1988 sales; and the sums he hopes to raise this year through this method.

The sum which may be realised at these sales will depend on the outcome of competitive bidding. The rate of return and other factors of interest to potential investors are matters for each bidder to consider and I do not propose to interfere with the competitive process by debating those issues. At the same time, as I have made clear on a number of occasions, I will not accept any offer which does not reflect the realistic value of the property.
