Vol. 380 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Guarantee Registration.

181.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of persons aged under 18 years registered with FÁS; the number of such persons interviewed; and the number of such persons who have been offered places since September 1987.

The number of persons aged under 18 years who registered with FÁS through the social guarantee process in the period September to December 1987 was 3,152. The number of such persons interviewed in the same period was 3,818 (not all of these were unemployed) and the number offered a place was 1,490. More recent figures are not available yet.

I should add that some persons under 18 years register independently with FÁS outside the social guarantee process, but the exact numbers are unavailable.
