Vol. 380 No. 4

Written Answers. - General Medical Service Contract.

35.

asked the Minister for Health if the proposed new General Medical service contract will make adequate provision for the special position of rural based general practitioners; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Discussions regarding a new contract for doctors participating in the GMS scheme are continuing with the Irish Medical Organisation under the chairmanship of Mr. John Horgan and the matter of rural practitioner needs will form part of these discussions. However, as the discussions are ongoing I am not, at this point, in a position to comment further on the matter.
