asked the Minister for Education in regard to the proposals to provide a community school in Ballinrobe, County Mayo in respect of which only her signature is outstanding on the contract, if she will define the meaning of the reference in her letter of 29 April 1988 to advance the project in the context of the second level capital programme for 1988; the date by which work will commence on the project; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

This project is one of a number of projects which I have decided to progress in the current year. This is being done with the due regard to the financial allocation available to me for the second level school building programme which cannot be exceeded.
The final tender report in relation to this project is at present being examined in my Department. It is proposed to finalise this as soon as possible with the intention of commencing construction work on the site later in the year.
It is not possible, however, to include the precise date on which construction will commence.
