Vol. 380 No. 7

Written Answers. - Castlebar (Mayo) General Hospital.

149.

asked the Minister for Health whether phase I in the General Hospital, Castlebar, County Mayo will open during 1988 as a result of a further allocation of £1 million in the recent estimates; whether this section of the hospital can open with its present complement of staff; if he will have to make further allocations for this purpose; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The allocation of £1 million referred to by the Deputy is in respect of the cost of the equipping process of the hospital which can be completed this year.

Detailed discussions are taking place at present between officers of my Department and officials of the Western Health Board in relation to the staffing and other resources required to open the new section and pending the outcome of these discussions I cannot say what the total requirements will be.
