Vol. 380 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cavan Housing.

128.

asked the Minister for the Environment when his Department intends making funds available for the movement of prefabricated buildings in County Cavan, used as old persons homes, to new locations where they are required, as a matter of urgency, for rehousing; if his attention has been drawn to this problem, as the movement of each prefab costs in the region of £2,000; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Cavan County Council were allocated a sum of £145,000 on 21 March 1988 to finance the provision of single houses/rural cottages, schemes of two to five houses and, where appropriate, mobile homes and demountable dwellings. The cost of relocating existing demountable dwellings may be charged to that allocation where the housing authority considers such relocation feasible and practicable and provided such expenditure is met from within the allocation provided for these purposes.
