Vol. 380 No. 8

Written Answers. - Semi-State Corporations.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he has for the Industrial Credit Corporation; whether he will dispose of the State's interest therein; and whether he has any plans to establish a joint venture between the Industrial Credit Corporation and any other body.

37.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has commissioned any report concerning the future of the Agricultural Credit Corporation; whether he will consider any proposal to dispose of some or all of the State's interest therein; whether he will consider amalgamating its activities with those of another body by way of joint venture or otherwise; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 15 and 37 together.

I have no proposals of the type indicated by the Deputy in respect of either the ACC and ICC. Neither have I commissioned any report concerning the future of the ACC.

As I said in the Dáil on 8 March 1988 during the Second Stage of the debate on the Agricultural Credit Bill, I have asked the Chairman of both the ACC and ICC to examine the scope for co-operation between them and to ensure that there will not be any undue overlapping of functions.
