Vol. 380 No. 9

Written Answers. - Local Authority Tenant Purchase Scheme.

63.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the working party to examine the purchase of flats by local authority tenants was set up; the names of those on the committee; the number of times it has met; when a recommendation or report from the committee will be given to him; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 208 on 1 March 1988. This group held its first meeting in April 1985. It comprises representatives of my Department and of Dublin, Cork and Limerick Corporations. Six meetings of the full group have been held and regular contacts have been maintained. A central aspect of the group's work has been the completion of surveys in the major urban areas represented by the group, of tenants' attitudes to the purchase of the flats in which they live. This survey has not been completed by Dublin Corporation: they have been asked to arrange for its completion as quickly as possible.
