Vol. 380 No. 10

Written Answers. - School Timetables.

176.

asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, she proposes to take in view of the fact that in September of this year schools will have to operate without a timetable because the timetables cannot be drawn up without the relevant staffing information for 1988-89.

In the post-primary sector it has not been possible to date to finalise teacher staffing allocations for the 1988/89 school year pending the outcome of the Central Review Committee's examination of the implications of the decision to increase the pupil-teacher ratio. I am hopeful that it will be possible to issue teacher allocations for the post-primary and the primary sectors shortly.
