I propose to take Questions Nos. 53 to 62, inclusive, together.
The table below gives details of Garda strength at the ten stations referred to in the questions, on 31 December 1986, 31 December 1987 and 30 April 1988. It should be borne in mind that the precise allocation of Garda manpower to individual stations varies from time to time in the light of changing needs and circumstances.
The strengths assigned to Union Quay, which is the Divisional Headquarters for the Cork East Division as well as being a District Headquarters, and to Gurranabraher and Mayfield stations, which are also District Headquarters stations, include specialist staff and units that operate on a Divisional/District basis. I should also mention that the reduction in strength at the Bridewell station is due mainly to the decentralisation of the Warrant Office activities and consequent redeployment within the Cork East Division.
