Vol. 381 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

55.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange for the payment of disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person concerned has been in receipt of disability benefit since 21 November 1983. He failed to attend for an examination by a medical referee of the Department on 26 April 1988. As he did not submit a satisfactory explanation for his non-attendance, payment has been disallowed for the statutory period of nine weeks. Arrangements are being made to have him called for examination again as soon as possible and his claim to benefit will be reviewed in the light of this examination.
