Vol. 381 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Lottery.

56.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will give full details of all national lottery moneys which have been received by his Department; if he will give details of the allocation of these funds by his Department; and the commitments entered into in regard to future disbursement.

In the 1988 Estimates the Government allocated £750,000 from the national lottery funds for voluntary organisations in the social services area.

Following consultation with the health boards and consideration of the projects for which help was sought grants amounting to £419,770 have been approved to date but in some cases payment has not yet been made pending clearance of certain formalities with the organisations concerned.

Applications under the scheme are still being considered and it is intended that the remaining funds will be allocated as soon as possible. A list of organisations which have been approved for funding under the scheme is attached.

A sum of £100,000 has also been allocated out of national lottery moneys for community social services purposes to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul towards the running of home management and personal development courses throughout the country.
