asked the Minister for Defence the amount of special allowances which have been paid to military personnel who undertook emergency duty in prisons during the recent prison officers' strike.

Limerick West): A special allowance of £14.20 per day is payable to the personnel concerned.

93.

asked the Minister for Defence the total amount in special allowances paid to military personnel who undertook emergency fire brigade duty during the recent strike in Dublin.

Limerick West): A total of £335,078 has been paid in respect of claims for special allowances submitted by Army personnel who were engaged on emergency fire brigade duty during the recent strike in Dublin.
