Vol. 381 No. 4

Written Answers. - Jobstown (Dublin) Community College.

164.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding Jobstown community college, Dublin 24; the arrangements which are being proposed for accommodation for the pupils of this school for the year to commence in September 1988; the proposals, if any, she has, regarding Jobstown community college; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The position regarding Jobstown community college is that, last January, I took a decision not to go ahead with the construction of a new building to house the College in view of the fact that the demand for post-primary accommodation in West Tallaght will, in the future, be significantly less than was originally anticipated.

It is proposed to continue to accommodate the existing Jobstown community college pupils in Brookfield community school in the school year commencing in September 1988.

I am at present examining proposals regarding the future of Jobstown community college and I hope to announce my decision on the matter shortly.
