I received an application from County Galway Vocational Education Committee last year requesting a subvention of £25,000 towards the cost of a music scheme in the 1987-88 academic year. Unfortunately, due to the prevailing financial constraints it was necessary to reply on the basis that there were no funds available to my Department from which such a grant could be made.
