Vol. 381 No. 4

Written Answers. - Criminal Law Practitioners Correspondence.

63.

asked the Minister for Justice if his Department's consideration of the issues raised in correspondence from the Criminal Law Practitioners Association of the Bar of Ireland have been completed; if any action is proposed by his Department in response; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Officials of my Department met with representatives of the Bar Council recently to discuss certain aspects relating to the payment of fees to defence counsel under the criminal legal aid scheme. The Bar Council agreed to provide a more detailed written submission to the Department, which is awaited.
