I am satisfied that the mechanism already exists in my Department to ensure that grant-aid is paid only towards private planting which is capable of producing a successful crop of commercial timber and which is compatible with the protection of the environment. In order to assist private forestry investors, a brochure giving guidance on the subject of environmental requirements is available from the Department.
