I have already stated the position on the amalgamation of vocational education committees in my reply to questions taken on 12 May 1988.
The representation which existing vocational education committee areas will have on the proposed new vocational education structures will be determined in the context of the legislation which is at present being prepared.
I have met representatives of the vocational education committees in general and the chief executive officers. I have also received oral and written submissions from other interested parties relating to the proposed rationalisation. I have indicated that I welcome such submissions and that I will bear them in mind in coming to my decisions about rationalisation.
