Vol. 381 No. 8

Written Answers. - Roads Development.

39.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received from the Confederation of Irish Industry a detailed document relating to the substantial improvement in the national primary roads system; his official response to that document; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

43.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will indicate the composition of the National Roads Authority having regard to his earlier replies, in view of the fact that the Government in the preparation of the brief for consultants for the development of an integrated programme for the greater Dublin area has referred to the western ring road; whether such a facility will be undertaken within the framework of a National Roads Authority or separately by the local authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am taking Questions Nos. 39 and 43 together.

I have received the document prepared by the Confederation of Irish Industry to which the Deputy refers. The proposed blueprint for road development will address the issues raised by the confederation and by other bodies relating to all categories of roads.

I intend to make a statement later this month relating to the national roads authority. The Government have approved my proposals for setting up the authority.
