Vol. 381 No. 8

Written Answers. - Milk Quotas.

101.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food arising from the recent decision of the European Court on milk quotas, the total number of Irish farmers who participated in temporary milk cessation schemes; and the total gallonage involved.

A total of approximately 3,000 Irish farmers received payments in respect of approximately 59 million gallons of milk under the non-marketing of milk and dairy herd conversion schemes. The quota position, if any, of these farmers will not be clear until the European Commission's examination of the implications of the European Court judgment has been completed.
