Vol. 382 No. 9

Written Answers. - Sligo General Hospital.

168.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the building schedule for the Sligo General Hospital extension, County Sligo; when it is expected that the building work will be completed; the expenditure which he has planned for each year; and when it is intended that the extension will be in service for hospital purposes.

170.

asked the Minister for Health the amount of money paid out to date to contractors including sub-contractors, working on the Sligo Regional Hospital extension, County Sligo; and the estimated expenditure on the project for 1988.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 168 and 170 together.

Construction work on the extension to Sligo General Hospital commenced in late December 1987 and it is expected that this work will be completed in about five years.

The total amount recouped to date by my Department to the North Western Health Board in respect of the building contract and sub-contract work involved is £1.2 million. The capital expenditure requirements for each year and the timing of the commissioning of the development will depend on various factors which are difficult to forecast accurately and it is not possible to be precise about these matters at this stage.
