Vol. 383 No. 1

Written Answers. - Crumlin Hospital CAT-Scan.

275.

asked the Minister for Health if he proposes to locate a CAT-scan in Crumlin Hospital, Dublin 12, as this is the national centre for children with cancer problems and the journey involved for such children to other hospitals for this service is very debilitating in the case of very ill children.

There are no proposals to locate a CAT scanner in Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. It is considered that major general hospitals are the most appropriate locations for this technology. There are currently seven CAT scanners located in Dublin which are considered adequate to meet the needs of the population in this area.
