Vol. 383 No. 4

Written Answers. - Prison Officer's Duties.

88.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason a prison officer (details supplied) in Dublin 15 has been refused permission to exchange his rostered duties, as others are allowed to do so; if this ban will now be lifted; and if the increment recently stopped on this person will be restored.

I consider that, as a general principle, it would be inappropriate for me, in response to a parliamentary question, to provide information in relation to disciplinary action taken in individual cases in the prison service. I consider that any questions that arise in relation to such matters are best dealt with between the prison authorities and the officer concerned, with, if need be, the involvement of the officer's staff association. Well established channels exists for the resolution of questions of this nature.
