The report "The Years Ahead — A Policy for the Elderly" was launched on the 14 October 1988. I am examining the proposals in the report and I intend to consult widely on its recommendations. Already the Government have authorised the drafting of a Bill to license and register nursing homes, which is one of the main recommendations of the report.
