Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Health Care Services.

212.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to any regional variations in separate health board areas of ratios of acute beds and other health care services per capita; and if he has any proposals to rectify this situation by bringing about a more uniform health service.

I am aware that there is some regional variation between health board areas in the provision of acute hospital beds and other health care services. Some of these variations reflect the varying mix of services which have been adopted by the various health boards. However, I am keeping these variations under close review. The recent review and subsequent rationalisation programme in the area of acute hospitals services paid special attention to the disparities in provision between different areas.
