Vol. 383 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Museum Music Collection.

5.

asked the Taoiseach if any damage has been done to the music collection in the National Museum in the last number of years; if he has satisfied himself regarding the present condition of the instruments; the plans he has for the continued preservation of these instruments; and the provision he has made for the control of the atmosphere of this music room.

In the course of works to create the Music Room in 1983, some damage was done to a keyboard instrument — a crack in the lid was increased slightly. During the course of the present renovations, the Music Room has had to be closed but I am satisfied that the collection is in safe condition. It will be on display again next year when the room is re-opened. The necessary atmosphere control is being provided.
