asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the grant of £1.75 million over three years for the building of phase I of the regional sports centre in Cork is £0.75 million short of what is required for this work; and if she will immediately give sanction to the local authorities involved for this extra sum of money.

At a recent meeting in my Department it was made clear to a representative of Cork Corporation that £1.75 million is the maximum budget available and that it is a matter for the corporation to plan and have constructed whatever facilities are possible within that allocation.
