Vol. 384 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Consultancy Services.

22.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason £920,000 is required by his Department for consultancy services in 1989 whereas the entire Oireachtas Vote for Parliamentary Committees is only £75,000.

The 1989 provisions of £920,000 and £75,000 are the estimated amounts required to meet the foreseeable needs of my Department and the Services for Oireachtas Committees (Vote 2) respectively.

In the case of my Department the 1989 allocation includes provision for the following major new items:

(i) the Office of Public Works inquiry ordered by the Government and

(ii) a study of the Greater Dublin Area in connection with the EC Structural Fund Scheme.

As regards the Services for Oireachtas Committees the 1989 allocation of £75,000, which is the same as the provision for 1988, is considered adequate to enable the various committees to discharge the duties assigned to them.
