asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the Union Street-James Street housing project, County Louth, to commemorate Dundalk's Heritage Year in 1989 in conjunction with the inner renewal development of Dundalk.

Dundalk Urban District Council submitted preliminary proposals on 30 May 1988 in respect of an urban renewal housing scheme at James Street-Union Street. The proposal was examined in my Department following which there were discussions on technical aspects of the proposal with Dundalk UDC. My Department are now awaiting the submission of revised proposals from the council.
