Vol. 384 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dundalk Pilot Scheme.

47.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he acknowledges the success of the repanelling pilot scheme undertaken in Cox's Demesne, Dundalk, County Louth; and the period within which the remainder of the houses will be refurbished.

I am advised that the pilot scheme has proved to be satisfactory, subject to some minor modifications which have been incorporated in subsequent phases of the work. However, in view of the special nature of the remedial works in this case, I consider it necessary that the work should be closely monitored as it progresses. The level of funding that can be provided in any year for individual projects is dependent on the amount of capital available and the competing demands from authorities. I am not in a position, therefore, to give the indication of the likely timescale for completion of the work in this estate.
