Vol. 385 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Cork School Transport.

225.

asked the Minister for Education when a decision will be made in relation to the extention of a bus route to include a person (details supplied) in County Cork who is attending a special school; if her attention has been drawn to the severe hardship being caused to this person's family; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that if this bus route is not extended to include this person, she will have to be taken out of this school which will have serious implications on her educational development; and if she will make a decision on compassionate grounds.

This child, who is medically handicapped, lives outside the range of existing transport services to Mallow post-primary special class and the cost of extending the service to her home would be prohibitive. However, in the circumstances a grant towards the cost of private school transport arrangements has been sanctioned.
