The question of the provision of a community college at Seán McDermott Street, Dublin 1 has been under review in my Department. Having regard to the declining pupil enrolments in the inner city area generally, provision of the college as planned would result in an unacceptable level of surplus accommodation in the area.
In these circumstances I have decided that provision of the college shall be conditional on the closure and sale of North Strand vocational school.
