asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the role of SFADCo in the pilot rural development programmes in Slieve Phelim, County Tipperary and Gort, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

One of the objectives of the integrated rural development programmes is to encourage local communities to make better use of the resources and expertise of existing State agencies and other bodies. The role for SFADCo in the programme is one of support for the efforts of the communities concerned in bringing to reality the plans for the development of their areas under the guidance of the programme co-ordinator.
