The information sought by the Deputy relates to the day-to-day administration of industrial policy which is the responsibility of the Industrial Development Authority and is not therefore a matter in which I have any direct function.
However, I understand that the 1987 IDA Annual Report does contain a figure for the number of jobs created in Kildare in 1987.
The IDA's 1988 Annual Report has not yet been published.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce his intentions in relation to the creation of employment in County Kildare in the current year; if his attention has been drawn to the high unemployment level within the county at present; the proposals, if any, he has in respect of job creation in the current year which are likely to alleviate this problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The economic policies now being pursued by the Government will, of course, facilitate the IDA in their continuing promotion of County Kildare for suitable industrial development.
