Vol. 386 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pension Reduction.

140.

asked the Minister for Energy the reason for the reduction in a pension made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person in question retired in 1983 on grounds of ill health and was awarded a pension under the Forest Service Pension Scheme.

Under the terms of this scheme, his pension should have been reviewed on 17 September 1987 when, on reaching the age of 65, he was awarded a retirement pension from the Department of Social Welfare. This review was overlooked. His Forest Service pension is now being reduced to the correct amount; a reasonable arrangement will have to be put in place to recover the overpayments in the period September 1987 to January 1989.
