Vol. 386 No. 7

Written Answers. - Transfer of Garda Office.

57.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has any plans to transfer the Divisional Headquarters Office to Dundalk from Drogheda, County Louth; the number of jobs which will be lost as a result; the number of Garda Síochána and staff members who will be transferred; where they will be located; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The divisional headquarters for the Louth-Meath Garda division will be relocated at Dundalk station as soon as the necessary accommodation is made available there, which is expected to be in the very near future. The divisional officer has been based at Dundalk since his appointment in May 1988 and the relocation of the divisional office is expected to involve the transfer of at least two sergeants, eight gardaí and two clerical assistant posts. No job losses will arise.
