Vol. 386 No. 7

Written Answers. - Fish Farm Development.

93.

asked the Minister for the Marine if a decision has been reached on the proposal to designate an area adjacent to St. John's Point, Dunkineely, County Donegal for fish farm development; if not, when a decision is likely to be reached; if any further study has been done of the possible environmental/pollution implications of such a development; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Two areas of coastline near St. John's Point were designated for aquaculture by Ministerial order dated 1 December 1988.

An appeal against the making of the designation order has been lodged in the High Court; as the matter is now sub judice, I am not in a position to comment further.
