Vol. 387 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

64.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if disability benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

The person concerned has been in receipt of disability benefit since 25 June 1988 and all benefit due has issued on receipt of weekly medical certificates.

Arrangements have now been made to have the person concerned transferred to the payment system whereby benefit issues weekly on receipt of monthly medical evidence. Payment has been made up to 18 February 1989.

65.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 17 has been refused dental benefit; if there has been a change in his Department's policy recently in relation to dental benefit for recipients of unemployment assistance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Payment in respect of a dental examination carried out on the person concerned was made to his dentist in December 1988. No fresh claim has been received in respect of him but in the light of the Deputy's representations further inquiries are being made and the Deputy will be informed of the outcome.

There has been no change in the conditions for entitlement to dental benefit for recipients of unemployment assistance.

66.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when the appeal of a person (details supplied) in County Louth against disallowance of disability benefit will be heard.

The person concerned has appealed against the disallowance of disability benefit and arrangements have been made to have her examined by a different medical referee as soon as possible.

Her entitlement to benefit will then be reviewed in the light of the medical referee's report.
