Vol. 387 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Allowance.

71.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in having a new and updated tax free allowance granted to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; when this allowance will be applied to his wages; and if his attention has been drawn to the severe hardship involved in this case.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that a notice of determination of tax free allowances for the current year, 1988-89, based on the taxpayer's recently completed return of income, was issued to him on 7 February 1989. A certificate of tax free allowances was issued to his employer on the same date. Any tax overdeducted will be refunded to the taxpayer on operation of this certificate.
